In 2017, 33,133 people were killed due to not wearing a seatbelt. The pain of losing a loved one is something that could potentially break a passenger’s heart, as many have seen. In the event of a crash, Seatbelts require dtex polyester which is a fabric needed to protect people in the event of a crash due to its strength. Conducted in a survey, 72% of Americans wear their seatbelts every day portraying how others should start also. Strapping on one’s seatbelt can ensure one’s safety, act conveniently, and lower any costs such as medical bills in the event of a car crash occurring.

In a tragic event, a seatbelt protects a person’s brain and spinal cord from serious injury. In the occurrence of a car crash, it ensures that any passenger remains inside of the vehicle at all times. In India, my friend’s grandpa was in a car crash, and died due to not wearing a seatbelt. There is not any specific law that requires a person to wear a seatbelt in India, so people there are less secure. In one year, 63,000 people were saved after wearing seatbelts, and only escaped with minor injuries. During summer, my friend’s relatives were in a car crash with multiple people where one got hurt after not wearing a seatbelt. Most people who consume alcohol have a higher risk of not wearing seatbelts due to being drunk at that period of time. On the news, a person in Idaho was not wearing a seatbelt, and was immediately rushed to the hospital where they sadly passed away.

In most cases, wearing a seatbelt takes only two to five seconds at most to put on, thus acting convenient. Additionally, it arrives with the car by default in most cases instead of buying it separately. A survey portrayed, illustrated that the majority of people in the United States of America wear it because of its convenience. Approximately, 90.7% of the people in a survey exclaimed that seatbelts are easy to attach. John Nash once commented that people wear seatbelts in taxis mostly because they are easy to put on. In recent years, pick-up trucks are more likely to have more complex seatbelts resulting in higher amounts of deaths in car accidents. A few years ago, a person in a pick-up truck accident did not put his seatbelt on since it was more complex and died in a car accident.

All types of seatbelts can prevent a medical bill from increasing due to a car accident, by reducing the damage done to the body. At most, they cost from $25 – $85 which is a big deal when stopping something to happen to one resulting in a medical bill increasing. On the news, even though it was a poor man with no medical insurance, he was in a car crash and eventually was able to afford the price of medical bills since the seatbelt prevented him from further damage to his head, without being on the verge of bankruptcy. On average, Americans payed 14.3 billion dollars from 2017-2019 which go to seatbelt medical costs. On average, drivers of older cars are likelier to have no seatbelt because of the cost and type of car. In a car accident taken place in Sweden, a person was driving their car and was in an accident, choosing not to buy a seatbelt resulting in serious injury.

Overall, seatbelts play an important role in ensuring no one gets hurt in a car or any vehicle. Wearing seatbelts are lifesaving, easy to obtain, and lower specific additional prices such as medical bills. The most dramatic effect was seen in head-on collisions. In these types of accidents, the lack of rear seat-belt use increased the risk of dying for the driver by 600 percent: For the front passenger, death risk increased more than 700 percent. Certainly no one would want to risk losing a person whom they loved most due to a car accident. Next time, in order to prevent this, fasten on your seatbelt whenever you get in your car.
