Journey to the Center of the Earth Book review

Journey to the Center of the Earth, by Jules Verne is a great book about a boy named Axel who is the narrator, a professor named Liedenbrock, and a tour guide named Hans. Although in the movie instead of the tour guide there is a girl named Grauben. The book is about the professor and his adopted nephew finding a piece of paper belonging to Arne Saknussem a famous scientist, who claimed to have visited the center of the Earth by going into a volcano named Snæfell, which is in Iceland. The crew set on for the expedition hoping to reach the center of the Earth, but you must read the book for the rest, so I don’t spoil it for you.

Anyways, the book is great, except for a few things. The first one is the descriptions are way too long, the book could have been extremely shorter if the author hadn’t put in a lot of long descriptions, but i mean this is a 19th century book, so you can’t expect too much from it. Secondly, there are some other languages in the book too, which at parts I personally didn’t like, for I felt there should have been one consistent language. Sometimes they gave the translations and sometimes they didn’t so it was hard to understand. Lastly, this relates sort of to the first fault because there is less talking between the crew and more unnecessary descriptions, for they readers usually want to see how the people interact especially during some difficult times and struggles. In concluding, this was a great book and I highly recommend reading it, if you read it, you might see why I listed some of the faults down, but I hope you like it anyways.

    1. when they were out of hope that they were never going to find water, but then they found a spring that they drank from and named Hansbach, because Hans the tour guide found it.
